Cauliflower is known to be a member of the cabbage family. In fact, it belongs to the cruciferous family which includes various vegetables, including broccoli. Cauliflower acts as a good source of vitamins and nutrients. It basically contains potassium, iron and zinc. It also contains vitamin A and C. Cauliflowers are usually cooked by steaming them. It can be cooked as either whole or in pieces. You can also fry the cauliflower along with onions, tomatoes and garlic in order to make it tasty. While cooking the cauliflower, keep on checking it after every 10 minutes for its tenderness. Ensure that the cauliflower is not over cooked. If the cauliflower gets over cooked, then in that case, it will turn grey and it will be unpalatable soft in nature. However, those people with uncontrolled thyroid dysfunction and people who are suffering from increased uric acid levels should refrain or restrict from consuming cauliflower. Cauliflower should be kept in a cool place and that too no more than two days. If you exceed the period, it will then deteriorate followed by loss of value nutrients. You can combine cauliflower with broccoli to make a nice salad. Off course, do not forget to use ingredients like, onion, mayonnaise, olive oil, vinegar including salt and pepper which will make a nice relishing salad.
