The small velvety, almost fuzzy fruit is a relative to peaches. It is sweet with a combination of a faint tartness that can share semblance with peaches and plums.
Apricots:
- Are beneficial for the heart -The combination of beta-carotene and lycopene content in this fruit keeps LDL (bad cholesterol) from being oxidized. Through this the cholesterol is simply passed through the body instead of collecting in arterial walls which is a factor in several heart diseases.
- Eating fruits like apricots are attributed to decreasing Age Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD). In layman’s terms, protection against decreased visual acuity or poor eye sight. Vitamins like A C and E are necessary antioxidant that protect you from the said disorder.
- Since apricots are a rich source of lycopene, a type of carotenoid, this reduces risks of certain types of cancers.
